Hillyfielders Football Club
11.0 CODE OF CONDUCT (for players, parents and spectators!)
Children, as you know, develop differently and at different rates; they react differently to the same pressures.
We are attempting to give all the young people who play soccer a good and worthwhile experience.
Players and parents especially should remember:
· At all games remember that you are representing Hillyfielders Football Club - playing fairly and acting responsibly both on and off the pitch.
· Teamwork and effort are as important as winning. You should accept losing without undue disappointment.
· Never question a referee’s decision. Yes they are only human, yes they can sometimes make mistakes but their decision is always final.
Parents particularly should remember:
Young people are not playing to satisfy your ambition.
· Young people are involved for their enjoyment - not yours.
· You have a responsibility to encourage young people to play by the rules.
· Do not allow your winning side to gloat over victory.
· Never ridicule a young person for making a mistake or losing - praise them or keep quiet.
· Set an example - applaud good play by both teams.
· Help to remove all verbal and physical abuse in soccer.
· Recognise the value and importance of the Coaches and Managers, who give up their time to help.
· Be responsible. Obey the code and allow everyone to enjoy the best game in the world.
Spectators:
· Your actions influence the mood of the players and the game.
· Stand away from the touchline.
· Do not abuse match officials, however much you disagree with their decision.
· Encourage all players and applaud their efforts.
· Do not ridicule opponents for their mistakes.
· Do not applaud foul play, and do not incite your players to foul.
· Do not use foul or abusive language to players or other spectators.
· You must not enter the field of play during a game unless asked to do so by the referee.
· Remember when you are supporting your team you are representing your Club and the League.
· You are subject to the laws of the game. You can be cautioned, reported, sent away from the ground, and suspended from attending any matches. Your team or Club can also be fined, suspended or expelled from the Competition.
Written by the Hillyfielders Football Club Executive Committee 2005
